Small Bowel Obstruction with Intestinal Infarction - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This medical exhibit features a large anterior cut-away view of the female abdomen illustrating a significant change abdominal architecture for a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. The segments of the stomach and the Roux limb are unaffected by this current problem. The issue at hand is the obstruction of the small bowel approximately 5 cm proximal to the ileocecal valve due multiple adhesions and the extensive ischemic necrosis of the small bowel from this site all the way back up to approximately 20 cm distal to the ligament of Treitz.
