Mechanism of Pulmonary Embolism - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This exhibit features with one silhouette view of the full body of an elderly female figure revealing the heart, lungs and great vessels. This image provides an overall orientation to the mechanism of the pulmonary embolism with multiple arrows showing the course of the emboli from the left lower leg, up through the veins, to the heart and out through the pulmonary arteries to the lungs. An enlarged cut-away view of the veins in the left lower leg is created showing an area of thrombosis filling the lumen of the vein with pieces breaking off and joining the bloodstream as emboli.
